You cannot drive without plates. When yous sell or buy a automobile privately, the seller should keep the plates. Dealerships issue temporary plates on the spot. You lot must become to the DMV to get plates ASAP. A private seller should have given you: Title with appropriate signatures, bill of auction (you volition pay sales tax, ownership taxes, and licensing fees at the DMV correct away, and a valid passing emissions exam from the past couple of weeks (they cannot sell yous a machine that does not pass emissions). Y'all will get plates right away. |

Under certain circumstances (listed below) you can drive without a license plate. https://www.denvergov.org/content/de...a-vehicle.html Quote: Operation of an unregistered vehicle. The vehicle was purchased either on a Saturday, on a Sunday, on a legal vacation, or between 5p.m. and 8 a.m. The vehicle is being driven from the place where the seller stored the vehicle to the place where the buyer intends to shop the vehicle. The buyer must carry in the vehicle the beak of sale that identifies the vehicle past yr, make and VIN and shows the time and date of sale signed by both the buyer and the seller. Proof of insurance. |

I sold a car a few months ago, and information technology is true that the buyer can bulldoze a short distance to store the vehicle while they become go the car registered as long every bit they have the paperwork. If you lot tin can complete the sale while the DMV is open, then simply meet in the parking lot of the DMV, sign all the newspaper piece of work, manus over the money, and then walk into the DMV for your plates. This worked perfectly for my buyer. |
